چکیده

In return strokes, the parameters that can be measured are channel base current and stroke speed. For this reason, many models have been developed with these two parameters, among others, as inputs. Here, we concentrate on propagation type engineering where is represented by a pulse propagating upwards along leader channel. models, in addition to speed, way which attenuates specified an input parameter. The goal of paper show that, within confines once speed known, radiation field used evaluate how After giving mathematics necessary for inverse transformation, procedure illustrated extracting attenuation curve from typical wave shape distant subsequent strokes. derived both first electromagnetic fields at different distances. It shown all experimentally observed features reproduced curve, except subsidiary peak long zero-crossing times. order obtain strokes agreement measurements, one has incorporate dispersion into model. case reduction height needed desired features.

A Modified Transmission Line Model for Lightning Return Stroke Field Calculations

Modifications to the transmission line model developed at the High Voltage Research Institute, Tomsk, USSR, are presented and compared between each other and with the modification proposed by the ItalianSwiss research team. The modifications considered differ from each other by the height dependent attenuation factor for the return stroke current pulse intensity. All of the attenuation factors,...

On the transmission line model for lightning return stroke representation

[1] The widely used transmission-line (TL) model of lightning return stroke in a vertical channel is most rigorously represented by a vertical phased array of current sources that produce a spherical transverse electromagnetic (TEM) wave in the case of return-stroke speed v equal to the speed of light c. If the radius of the lightning channel were equal to zero, the equivalent representation co...

Implementation of a Transmission Line Model with the PEEC Method for Lightning Surge Analysis

This paper proposes a simple transmission line model adopted with the partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method for lightning surge analysis. The proposed approach is employed for calculating tower surge responses and voltages across insulators of an actual transmission tower. The proposed approach increases the efficiency of the method in terms of computation time because of reducing a ...

A Generalized Lossy Transmission-Line Model for Tunable Graphene-Based Transmission Lines with Attenuation Phenomenon

To investigate the frequency shift phenomenon by inserting graphene, a generalized lossy transmission-line model and the related electrical parameter-extraction theory are proposed in this paper. Three kinds of graphene-based transmission lines with attenuation phenomenon including microstrip line, double-side parallel strip line, and uniplanar coplanar waveguide are analyzed under the common c...

Test of the transmission line model and the traveling current source model with triggered lightning return strokes at very close range

[1] We test the two simplest and most conceptually different return stroke models, the transmission line model (TLM) and the traveling current source model (TCSM), by comparing the first microsecond of model-predicted electric and magnetic field wave forms and field derivative wave forms at 15 m and 30 m with the corresponding measured wave forms from triggered lightning return strokes. In the ...
